The Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation main strategic objective is to develop the date palm sector and agricultural innovation at the local and international levels by launching and adopting a number of activities, events and competitions to encourage farmers, researchers and those interested in the agricultural sector and date palms aiming to motivate them to innovate, excel and instill a spirit of fair competition that will help thrive and develop this sector.

As part of this promising vision, the award initiated organizing the Fourth Sudan International Date Palm Festival in Khartoum from the 23rd to the 27th of November 2020, in cooperation with the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Sudanese Palm Plantation and Welfare Association, the International Date Palm Network (DPGN) and the Date Palm Friends Society in the UAE, which includes the launch of a Sudanese date competition to motivate and honor farmers with the finest Sudanese dates produced in different regions of Sudan.
